I will never believe myself fall in love with snowboard before I went to Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort with my friends. I decided to try snowboard see I will like it or not, and the fact shows I am.
Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort is located on the way to Niigata, we took the Jōetsu Shinkansen (上越新幹線) from Tokyo station, it took about 1 hour and 25 minutes arrived at Echigo-Yuzawa Station （越後湯沢駅） and I believe there is a ski resort bus will take to the place from the station. We booked a lovely pension - Pension OZ, it just 5 minutes walk to the ski resort, so we went there first.
The Ishiuchi Marayama is huge, we spent our first day in the very beginning part, and I can't believe I only spent 2 hours to get hands on the snowboard. Then the other day, we decide to move the middle part of the mountain, that part has more beginning course. We spent almost 2 days there but didn't go to the third part of the mountain yet. The view at the middle of the mountain was absolutely amazing.
If you bought a pack via 3rd party's website, then you might ask them where is the rental shop, we rent our gear from the shop in front the ski resort with collaborating with our pension I guess. And our plan is staying there for 2 days, so we bought a 1 and 1/2 days lift ticket with a discount from out pension reception for 5,400 yen (around this price). And for our gear, I rented a snowboard set that including snowboard + shoes for 2,500 yen/day, compare with the rental shop inside ski resort, this isn't a bad price.
Compare with last time ski trip at Minakami, Gunma, I fall in love with this time, I should choose snowboard at that time. -w- Now I bought a secondhand snowboard online and can't wait when it arrives, then start planning my next snowboard trip in Japan before the winter goes.
